I use both iOS and Android and I like the familiarity and standardisation of iOS, but I also appreciate the 'openness' of Android.Ī lot depends on how invested you are in the ecosystem, I have used iPhones since the 3G and have invested time and money into apps/games and it is familiar to me. No-one is right, no one is wrong yet each side has very strong emotional attachment to the OS and there is a 'need' to 'win' and prove the other camp is wrong. The arguments for/against each is a complete personally choice as much as which winter coat you prefer. Kenny8416 says "Virtually unusable IMO", ok IYHO it may be but to millions of others Android is confusing, muddled and inconsistent. Gorfmaster1 says "lack of basic functionality" but doesn't qualify that statement. "it's been a while since I have seen anyone post about it," - That's because it's such a divisive topic! While it doesn't do some things Apple devices do, there is way more that Windows and Android can do for me vs what it can't. I simply don't use Apple anything because it does not do everything I need it to do. Google and Samsung probably has something that is close to it, but nowhere as good. The apps are ever changing and often abandoned before they ever get it working properly. I do with they would get something close, it is all convoluted and inconsistent. Often imitated, never duplicated, the way things simply work together is quite good. I do think the integration that they have with all their devices is second to none. She (being in her late 60's) didn't like it as much as her other Android phone because she got used to those things that she could do on her other phone. I was moving her from an Android device to an iPhone because I thought she would like it more. I recently set up an iPhone for a relative and I was surprised at the apparent lack of basic functionality that I take for granted. I know that people like that for that reason. It really hasn't changed much over the years. While I appreciate what Apple done with their phone.
